Immunizations Needed for this Fall’s 7th Graders

The state of Iowa requires all incoming 7th graders to have both the Meningococcal vaccine and Tdap booster before Fall 2020. If your child does not have the required vaccines or a Certificate of Immunization Exemption, they will not be allowed to attend school starting day 1 of the 20-21 school year. This requirement has no grace period. During these unprecedented times related to COVID-19, it is still important that your child receives their vaccines in a timely manner as there will be no extension offered by the IDPH on vaccine requirements. Clinics are still offering well child visits and are still able to administer vaccines. Please contact your child’s provider to discuss the options for receiving vaccines during this time.
